Hong Kong PAR Guide for Indians
Indian passport holders must complete a free Hong Kong Pre Arrival Registration (PAR) before travelling. This step by step guide covers every field, required documents, common mistakes, and what to do after approval.
Hong Kong Pre Arrival Registration Guide
Indian passport holders do not need a visa to visit Hong Kong. However, all Indians must complete a mandatory Pre Arrival Registration (PAR) before travelling. The registration is completely free, takes about 10 minutes to fill, and is approved instantly in most cases.
This guide walks you through every step of the Hong Kong PAR form. From what documents to keep ready, to every field on the form, to what the approval looks like and what to do with it.
| PAR Key Facts | Details |
|---|---|
| Who must apply | Every Indian passport holder travelling to Hong Kong |
| Cost | Free |
| Where to apply | Official Hong Kong Immigration Dept website |
| Processing time | Instant in most cases |
| PAR validity | 6 months from registration date |
| Entries allowed | Multiple entries within the 6 month validity |
| Maximum stay per visit | 14 days |
PAR is not a visa. It is a free online registration that replaces the traditional visa requirement for Indian nationals. No embassy visit, no fee, no agent needed.
Documents Required for Hong Kong PAR
Keep these ready before you open the form. The form may time out if you pause mid-way, and you will have to start over.
| Document | What You Need |
|---|---|

|---|---|
| Surname | Last name |
| Given Name | First name and middle name(s) as they appear. |
| Is there any alias in English on your passport? | Mostly No for all. Select Yes if your passport has Alias Name |
| Have you ever been known by any other names? | YES only if you previously were known by any other name. Married female who changed name after marriage need to select YES |
| Sex | As per passport |

| Residential Address | Your residential address, can be in India or abroad |
| Contact Details | Your contact details |
Place of Birth — The #1 Reason PAR Applicationsface issues at Airport
Look at your passport's bio page under "Place of Birth". Use that exact city name:
- Passport says "Mumbai" → enter Mumbai
- Passport says "CALCUTTA" → enter Calcutta, not Kolkata
- Passport says "Delhi, Delhi" → Select others, and type "Delhi, Delhi"
If your city is not in the dropdown, select "Others" and type it manually exactly as shown on your passport. A mismatch here can cause delays or refusal at Hong Kong immigration. You may even not be allowed to board your flight
Fill in Passport Details
| Field | What to Enter |
|---|---|
| Passport Number | As mentioned on Your Passport |
| Place of issue of passport | As mentioned on Your Passport |
| Date of Issue | As mentioned on Your Passport |
| Date of Expiry | As mentioned on Your Passport |
Enter Your Travel History and Occupation Details

Details of visit
You must provide a Hong Kong address where you will be staying. It is not mandatory to have a hotel booking at the time of filling the form, you can just enter where you plan to stay. If your stay changes after you get the PAR approval, it will not affect the validity of your PAR.
| Field | What to Enter |
|---|---|
| Purpose of visit | Purpose of Your visit |
| Proposed duration of stay (days) | Days you will stay in Hong Kong |
| Address of accommodation | Your planned Stay |
| Fund available for travel to the HKSAR in HK dollars | Funds available to you for your travel |
| Local connection in the HKSAR | No if you don't know anyone in Hong Kong |
After filling all the details, answer some basic "YES" or "No" questions and you are done with the form.
Submit and Get Your PAR Approval
Click "Submit". This will take you to the review screen. Verify all the details one last time. If you need to make any changes, click "Amend". Once you are sure everything is correct, click Submit.
Within 5 to 10 seconds you will get PAR Notification Slip. Save this Notification Slip as a PDF and print a physical copy.
Successfully getting PAR Notification slip does not mean guaranteed entry to Hong Kong. You will still be subject to all the immigration rules and checks at the airport. If details filled in PAR do not match with your Passport or if you have any other issues, you may be denied boarding at the airline check-in counter.
After Getting PAR Approval
| Action | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Print a physical copy | Do not forget to save and print a physical copy of PAR. |
| Note your PAR validity dates | PAR is valid for 6 months. If your trip is more than 6 months away, re-apply closer to travel. |
| Show at airline check-in | All airlines flying to Hong Kong will verify your PAR before boarding. Have it ready printed. |
| Show at Hong Kong immigration | Present your Indian passport along with your PAR approval to the immigration officer on arrival. |
